Where is Luna?
Papa, where did Luna go? Her cage was here just yesterday. Did she move somewhere else?

Making noise together

I taught Luna how to make noise in order to call Papa's attention, and now we compete to see who gets to play outside the cage first when he comes back from work:

How to open your cage door

Today I will show you how to open your cage door if it is locked. My door is always locked because I'm a strong girl and I can open it very easily. When I want to play outside I climb to the bars near the door and make as much noise as I can by gnawing at the bars. After a while, Papa comes and unlocks the door. Then I open it and climb into his hand:

I think I have trained Papa well.

Meet Kumanoko

Kumanoko
This is Kumanoko. He is a syrian hamster like me. He's even the same color! His Mama has a website with many of his photos.

Kumanoko has a problem with his teeth. He only had two: one in the top and one in the bottom of his mouth. The top one wasn't growing straight and he had to visit the doctor every month to clip it. Because of that problem he has had surgery to remove it. His Mama says that he's recovering now.

Please visit his website and leave him a comment telling him to get well soon!

(I wonder if he has a girlfriend already...)

Exploring my new home

Luna exploring around her cage
Papa introduced me to Nana the other day. She is ALMOST as cute as I am, and much bigger. Papa said that I when I grow up I will be like her, but my hair will be longer.

Nana told me a few tricks. She told me to gnaw the bars in the door of my cage whenever I want to play outside. The louder the better. I decided to try it. As soon as Papa put Nana back in her cage I climbed the bars of my cage and started gnawing the door. It took me a few tries after I learnt how to make the noise loud enough, but after a while Papa realized that I wanted to go out and opened my door. He put his hand outside my cage and waited. I climbed on his palm like Nana told me to do and he cuddled me for a while, but I didn't want cuddles. I wanted to explore. I climbed down from his hand and he let me play around my cage. I was very interested in the spot where Nana was sitting before.

After a few minutes Papa took me in his hands and put me back in my cage. I washed my face and I went to run in my wheel.

Nana told me that the room floor is a very interesting place. I hope Papa lets me play there the next time!

New roommate!

Nana and Luna meet
I found out where the noises are coming from! Tonight Papa let me play outside my cage and I climbed his shelves to gnaw on his books like usual. But this time instead of books I found another cage like mine. I thought that perhaps Flan had come back, so I went to take a look. At first I didn't see anything interesting, but there was a cute smell. I think it's the same smell that I noticed on Papa's hands.

I was investigating around this cage when a small grey ball of fur moved and came to the corner where I was. It was a small girl. Papa told me that her name is Luna and introduced us. She sniffed me through the bars and I sniffed her. She's ALMOST as cute as I am. But it looks like she's shy, because she went back to hide inside her nest. I wanted to play with her, but Papa put me again in my cage.

Tomorrow I will climb here again and see if I can play with her!

Spooky...

Nana listens to Luna's noises
This is weird. Every night I gnaw the bars of my cage to make noise and tell Papa that I want to play outside. Usually the noise stops when I stop. But the last few days the noise doesn't stop. When I stop gnawing the bars the noise just goes on. It's like if the bars were making noise by themselves, or like there was someone else gnawing on another cage in response, but I know that's not possible because I can't see anyone else. Only Papa, and he doesn't gnaw on anything, he just takes photos.

I have also noticed that when Papa holds me sometimes his hands smell like a hamster (not me), but he's not a hamster! Maybe he's turning into one of us, I don't know.

But the weirdest thing is that sometimes at night I hear the noise of a wheel running, but that happens also when I'm not running on mine.

What could be going on here?

Hello everybody, I'm Luna

Hi, I'm Luna
Nice to meet you, I'm Luna. I was born on February 15th and came to this home a few days ago. At the beginning I was very shy and afraid of every noise, but soon I realized that nothing bad happened. In fact, it was just the opposite: every time the big hairless hand appeared it gave me some sunflower seeds through the bars of my cage!

It turned out that the big hand belongs to a guy called Papa. He's big and doesn't have fur, so I don't think he's a hamster like me. I was afraid of him at the beginning, but now I like to climb on his hand because he lets me play outside of my cage and gives me treats.

Papa says that my name means "Moon" in Spanish, and that he chose this name for me because my fur is silver gray. I don't know what that means nor what those "Moon" or "Spanish" things are, but I don't care much, as long as he gives me treats and plays with me.

Sometimes I can hear noises even when I'm not biting the bars of my cage, and there's an interesting smell on this room. I think I'm not the only girl around here.
