Don't even think about running away, Mr. Yogurt!

Yesterday when I was playing on the floor I saw Mr. Yogurt sitting in front of the TV stand. He wasn't moving, so maybe he was sleeping. I approached veeeery carefully to avoid waking him up. I sniffed him and he didn't move, so I put my head inside him and I ate a lot of Mr. Yogurt.

He's a very nice guy (and tastes good too). I hope I will meet him again!

Helping Papa with his study

Wednesday, October 25, 2006 - Posted by Nana
Lately Papa is very busy because he has to study a lot. He needs to concentrate. That's why I have to help him. When I'm playing outside my cage I keep trying to climb on his feet to remind him that he has to study hard so he can earn more money and buy me and Luna and Oscar more food and toys!

I'm sure he appreciates my help!

Reverse wheel

Yesterday night Papa cleaned his room and emptied his wastepaper bin. I found it when I was playing outside and I couldn't resist trying to climb it. But it looks like it didn't want me to climb. It kept turning and turning. It was as if I was running outside a big wheel, and that was fun too.

Finally Papa made it stop and I could climb on it. I had a very fun time!

Juicy fruit visits

Wednesday, October 25, 2006 - Posted by Nana
Sometimes when I wake up I find a bit of fresh fruit in front of my nest. I think the fruit comes to my nest because it wants to be eaten. And I like to eat it, so I don't really mind a lot about it.

When the fruit visits me I just take it into my nest and eat as much as I can. I put the uneaten part in a corner inside my nest and save it for later.

If you know some fruit friends who would like to be eaten, then please tell them to visit me!

Hello everybody, I'm Oscar

Hello everybody, I'm Oscar
Nice to meet you. My name is Oscar and I'm a Campbell russian hamster (but I was born here in Japan around one year ago).

My Mama and Papa live in Japan, but they're from Australia. They have to go back to they country and can't take me with them. Because of that I'm staying with my new Papa since last Saturday. I have already met Nana and Luna. They're huge!

I'm still a bit shy because I haven't got used to my new home yet. The first two days I didn't go out from ny nest much because I was a bit afraid of the new smells around me. Now I'm not afraid anymore and I take food from my new Papa's hand and play with him sometimes. Yesterday night he let me play on top of his bed for a while and he gave me some broccoli.

At night I like running very fast in my new wheel. Now I'm going to explore this place a little more. I will tell you what I find!

Got new cages!

Got new cages!
Papa made new cages for Luna and me! He wasn't breaking those boxes after all!

The new cages don't have a door. They have a veeeery big opening on the front covered with a white wire mesh (very good for climbing). When we want to play outside all we have to do is climb the wire mesh and then Papa comes and opens the top of the cage and takes us outside.

Papa says that the cages are 70x36 centimeters long. These are a lot of centimeters, whatever they are. I have been looking for these centimeter things everywhere, but I haven't found any. Maybe they were afraid that I was going to eat them and they ran away.

Many of you said in the comments that Papa was making a cage. How did you know? Did he tell you?

Papa is breaking a box

Papa is breaking a box
I think Papa is becoming a bit crazy. He bought two big plastic boxes somewhere and now he's opening these big holes on them.

Maybe he doesn't he know that YOU CAN'T STORE THINGS ON A BOX IF IT'S OPEN ON THE SIDES!

What could be thinking about...?

Birthday present

Nana eats melonNana eats melon
My birthday was last Monday. I was sleeping in my nest and a smell woke me up. I woke up to see what it was. I found a very big piece of fresh melon just in front of my door! I tried to take it inside my nest, but it was too big. Papa put me on the desk and gave me the piece of melon. I was still a bit sleepy, but I couldn't resist eating it right there.

When I couldn't eat more Papa put me back in my cage and brought me the melon. I ate most of it during the night. Luna got a piece too!
Thank you, Papa!

Nana plays in Papa's MSX computer
Today it's my second birthday! I don't know if Papa will remember about it, so yesterday when I was playing I climbed into one of his computers and I sent him lots of do-not-forget-nana's-birthday waves.

Today it is also my brother Coco's and my sister Hana's birthday.

Do you think Papa will remember?

It's still hot sometimes

Luna sleeping
The weather is getting colder now, but sometimes (like yesterday) it is still hot. This is why sometimes I sleep outside of my nest like this.

When Papa sees me sleeping like this he turns on the cold-making machine. When the room is not hot anymore I go back to my nest.

Ball of fur

Luna washes her face
Every night Papa lets me play on his bed for a while before putting me on the floor. I always run to the same spot near the wall and I wash my face because I have to be pretty just in case I meet a hamster boy in the floor.

Papa says that I look like a grey ball of fur with eyes.

Three tails?

Luna has three tails
My fur is growing very fast. That's good because I'm going to be warm now that the weather is getting colder. But the fur near my tail is growing even faster. Papa says that it looks as if I had three tails.

My back hurts

Nana inside her hamster jar
Lately the bump under my tail had been growing little by little, so yesterday Papa put me in my travel cage and took me to Dr. Ozawa's clinic. When we arrived, Dr. Ito saw me and then he let me play in his hands while he talked to Papa.

I don't know very well what happened, but suddenly I got very very sleepy. When I woke up I was lying in a warm towel and I couldn't feel my back legs. I couldn't walk, so I waited. I got a bit nervous. Little by little I started feeling my legs again. After a while I could walk again like usual.

But the bump under my tail hurt. When I looked, I saw that the bump wasn't there anymore. Perhaps it left while I was sleeping.

When we got back home the place where the bump had been still hurt. It hurt a bit when I walked, but I forgot about it when Papa brought Luna and me some hard boiled egg.

I'm still wondering how could the not-so-little bump leave while I was sleeping without me noticing.
